I have completed my training with Nurturing Birth and I work as an Ante Natal Doula, a Birth Doula and a Post Birth Doula. A lot of people feel there are already enough people on the scene when you have a baby, with doctors, midwives, the father and other friends and family, but the nice thing about hiring a Doula is that you know that they will be there when you want them to be, and for however long you want them to be there. I have always been a very caring and nurturing person and at last I feel I have found my niche in life, being a Doula is a fantastic opportunity to give ladies what they deserve before, during and after birth. As a doula I think it is essential for new mothers to feel that they are being supported in a sympathetic environment, which includes understanding, kindness and non-judgmental care. My aim as a doula is to create a relaxed atmosphere and to help out with odd jobs around the home so that you can get on with the birth and continue normal family life. I hope that I will also be able to help you deal with some of the niggling worries that go with being/becoming a mother. Each mother and family is unique, so each will benefit from differing doula support. I undertake various tasks both during labour and birth and post-natally to suit your individual needs. If you are expecting and don't have extended family on hand (mother, mother-in-law, sisters) or if you prefer not to have to rely on them at this time, a doula may be the perfect option for you. I am ideal if you want to look after your new baby yourself but would welcome support and advice from an experienced mother. I am very flexible and am happy to design a package to suit your needs. If you were interested in hiring me as your Doula, for whichever service, I would first arrange a suitable time with you for me to come for an initial visit. This gives you a chance to meet me, and basically see if you like me. I do not charge anything for this visit, or put a time limit on it.
